QWACA (Queens Women Arts and Culture Association) is a New York based Association that promotes knowledge of diverse cultural and arts experiences amongst New Yorkers. QWACA’s aim is to build and maintain support for the arts in the area by bringing together food, music, theater, film, dance, visual arts, including galleries and museums in organized events throughout the year.
History
QWACA was founded in August 2007 by three Queens’ women interested in their personal development and knowledge of culture and arts. QWACA organizes of events in the New York City area. Members meet for a meal at a new local restaurant and an exhibit, the theater or other cultural events.
Today
QWACA currently has three Board members. Membership is open to those in the New York City area that are interested in participating. Membership is open to people in the New York City area that are willing to participate in events which could be in the outer boroughs, Westchester or Connecticut.
Participation Levels
Board – Founding members that organize activities and approve new members and guest participation. Must be a member for 1 year and be nominated for Board level functions and unanimously approved by the group.
Member – Pledge Member that has participated in 3 or more outings, that is agreeable and has planned and organized one successful event to completion.
Pledge Member – Can participate in all events, conduct research of cultural events in the area and suggest events to the Board. Pledge Members cannot organize events.
Guest – Anyone that would like to participate in an already organized event.
